What is a meet-me-room anyway? The meet-me-room provides opportunities for communications firms to exchange data with hundreds of telecom carriers and internet service providers (ISP) that are all within the same facility.

There are two types of facilities used for interconnections; meet-me-room is usually small and located in a carrier hotel. If larger than a small meet-me-room the facility is all unto itself detached from a carrier hotel. For this we’ll be looking at the meet-me-room located inside a carrier hotel.

Westin Building Exchange Meet-Me-Room

The meet-me-room is a gateway to the internet with quick, reliable and cost-effective connections between the tenants in the building, which happen to be ISP providers, local exchange companies, cable and e-commerce companies. Telecommunications organizations and providers can connect to each other and exchange information without the added cost of local fees. The meet-me-room distributes traffic at a low cost. Organizations that use a large amount of bandwidth can benefit from this.

Typically, the size of a meet-me-room is on the small side. This is because fiber would run from a tenants suite to patch panels then to the meet-me-room to be interconnected. Over time these rooms have gotten larger some even resembling a data center.

The main purpose of a meet-me-room is to interconnect tenants. The Westin Building is a carrier-neutral facility with a multitude of interconnections. This allows any tenant to interconnect. Colocation NorthWest is located on several floors in the Westin Building.

The Westin Building offers a few choices for tenants. The fiber meet-me-room, copper meet-me-room, the fast and ever growing exchange point of the Seattle Internet Exchange (SIX), and the Pacific NW Giga Pop (PNWGP) whom designs, implements and manages the multi-state high bandwidth and high-capacity network.

Our Seattle data center facility has several suites located in the Westin Building which is a primary carrier class interconnection facility. Because of this we offer interconnection points to Asian, Canadian, European an American network service providers and carriers. So we have a connection to every major service provider and carrier in the region through our own copper and fiber cross connect facilities. Including interconnection to other networks and online entities through the Seattle Internet Exchange (SIX).
